This tutorial is intended to demonstrate the process of adding JavaScripts from The JavaScript Source into FrontPage 2000. Descriptions and a graphical screenshot of each step is included below. If you click the thumbnail image the larger screenshot will open in a new window.

We will add the 'Born Which Day?' script to our demo baby site in this tutorial.

As necessary, we have added red boxes and arrows to emphasize items within the screenshot, such as buttons, menu items, and text. Obviously, these red boxes and arrows will not appear in FrontPage 2000 for you.

Step 1: Search The JavaScript Source

In order to add a script to your site, you first have to pick one. With over 600 scripts to pick from, start at http://javascript.internet.com/. Enter a few keywords that describe the script you want in the site search box and click "Go!".

Search The JavaScript Source

Step 2: Browse to the Demo Page

From the results page, find the script you want. Click the script's name in the search results to load the script's demo page. From here, test the script out to ensure it is the one you want. If not, go back to the search results. If the script is correct, continue on. We are going to use the "Born Which Weekday?" script for our demo baby site.

browse to the demo page

Step 3: Read the Instructions

Once you have a script picked out, scroll down the page until you find the large yellow box that contains the script's source code. In the top of the box, carefully read the instructions on how to add this script to your site. The instructions for the script we will add requires adding code to the HEAD and to the BODY of the HTML web page. (more on that later).

Step 4: Open Page in FrontPage 2000

Start FrontPage 2000 and open the web page that you will be inserting the script into. When the page opens, it should look like this:

Step 5: Change to HTML View

The next step is to switch from the default Normal View to HTML View:
